The Singing Celebrant
I’m a fully qualified independent wedding, funeral Celebrant, and professional Singer based in Glasgow, Scotland.
I have over 30 years experience of singing and performing around Europe as a classical singer, and feel very lucky to have experienced meeting and working with people from all walks of life.
My passion to become a Celebrant began after singing at many weddings and funerals and sometimes feeling that these major life events felt impersonal and lacked individuality.
My commitment is to provide unique bespoke ceremonies to all that reflect and celebrate individuality.
About me…
Originally from Lancashire, I moved to Glasgow in 1989 to study at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. I fell in love with the city and never left – I proudly describe myself as an adopted Scot.
As a singer, I’ve performed with Scottish Opera, Opera North and English National Opera, and toured nationally in Les Misérables and The Phantom of the Opera. I’m deeply passionate about music in the community and lead an all-inclusive community choir, The Stepps Songsters, where connection and joy are just as important as the singing.
Alongside this, I perform stand-up comedy across Glasgow – a skill set not unlike working as a Celebrant: speaking in public, being likeable, telling stories with honesty and warmth, and occasionally being heckled. My approach to life (and work) is empathetic, direct, honest, and fun – when the moment calls for it.
On a more serious note, I’m also an Experienced Friend with the Canmore Trust, a suicide prevention and postvention charity based in Scotland. This specialist volunteer role supports individuals, families and communities bereaved by suicide, helping them navigate grief and begin to rebuild.
